Hey Guys: Here are the results of Week 4 of the Wednesday Afternoon Fishing Dogfights. Sorry, that I did not get this out Wednesday night. I left after the conclusion of the tournament last Wednesday night and drove to my camp on Toledo Bend then spent two days practicing and fishing two days of the Louisiana Best Six Tournament. I belong to the Sportsman’s Bass Club and along with the rest of our team Glenn Granger, Mitch Frazer, Tony Coburn, Mark LeLeaux, David Archer and my fishing partner Jason Hawes ended up in 16th place. We were a little disappointed after finishing 2nd place last year but have no regrets. I hope you would understand why the report is late………
The start of the Week four tournament was right on schedule on this not so hot cloudy day. The water is getting clearer and the weather was great. The fishermen voted to end the tournament at 8:30 pm. A few of the fisherman that went above Ward 8 Park got rained on but most stayed dry. Below are the results of week 4:
1st Place Team was the duo of Buddy Pesson & Steve Goff with a outstanding 5 fish limit that weighed in at 6.91 pounds. Their stringer was anchored by a nice 2.07 pounder. . They caught their bass of the tournament on chug bugs and plastic lures in both the sort of muddy Calcasieu River and the clearer West Fork. They reported catching 7 fish. They also won the Tarver Ford’s Bonus Cash of $100. For their effort they earned $360.
2nd Place Team was awarded to Troy Tate & Paul Frilot for their 5 fish limit that weighed 5.53 pounds. They had a respectable stringer anchored with their biggest fish a 1.31 pounder. For their effort they were awarded $91 plus $100 in Bonus Cash from Lake Charles Toyota for being the highest placing team with a Toyota towing vehicle. They reported that they were fishing in the main River and were chunking crankbaits. They boated around 12 fish in the 4 hour tournament. They were the highest non qualified team for the end of the year Championship so they now have earned a spot to be able to be one of the twenty teams to fish in that tournament.
3rd Place Team was Robert Weemes & David Rabalais with a 5 fish stringer that weighed 5.22 pounds. Their stringer was anchored with a 1.99 pounder. They captured most of their fish on plastic lures in the West Fork.
4th Place Team of Mike McDonald & Bryan Whitley finished with a 3 fish stringer that weighed 4.95 pounds. Their stringer was anchored by Mike’s Big Bass of the night, a great looking 2.58 pounder that could not resist a buzzbait. The Big Bass Winner of the night was a resident of the West Fork. Mike won the Wendi’s Flower Cart Dozen Roses for catching the Big Bass and the team was awarded $91 for 1st Place Big Bass.
The contestants were treated to door prizes from Lake Charles Tackle. This upcoming week remember if you purchase anything from Parkside Marina ask them for a receipt then write your name on the back of the receipt and drop it in the container marked Parkside Drawing. From those receipts we will draw for a 6 pack of your choice at the end of the tournament. Dean West was the lucky 6 pack recipient this week.

Wendi’s Flower Cart
(Go by and see Ray Bustillo and/or his wife Wendi. Ray always has time to listen to a good fishing story and will always have time to tell you one. Ask him about his thoughts on fishing partner relationships and he also has a great story about a census employee…..It’s worth the time…..lol ).
Lake Charles Tackle
(The best place in town for your fishing and hunting needs. While you are there you will see that they do live up to their slogan “where service is the catch”. Please go by and check out their huge selections of fishing lures and be sure to thank them for the tremendous “door prizes” they provide each week. David Rabalais, co-owner has been a regular contestant in past Dogfights. He like the rest of their staff are always available for some good local fishing information).
Parkside Marina
Please, do not park your truck and or boat trailer on the camper spots. When you pick your boat out of the water park your rig in the north east parking lot. Be aware that some of the people live in the camper spots and when the are coming home from work they would like to park near their trailer. (Tom Mayo does a great job as our Dogfight Tournament host).
Joe Joslin Outdoors
(If you or your company are looking for a quality fishing trip on Toledo Bend call Joe Joslin. He is a really good guy and knows where and how to fish. I have fished with him and I am very impressed with his operation. Be sure to read his column in the American Press every Thursday.)
Now forward this email to 7 other fishermen and you will catch more fish in the next tournament but if you don’t all of your fish will be small ones………………………lol
If you know anyone interested in receiving these results please send me their email address and I will add them to the list.
If you are a winner in the tournament please hang around for a while so I can take some pictures after the Awards Ceremony…….thanks
Good luck on your next fishing trip,
Ron Castille
